Sick ward
This is what you get for a few minute of silence. Complete upending of their room, and the creation of some type of sick ward or orphanage. All their "friends" have a blanket and is nicely tucked in, and there are some back up tights and socks just in case they run out of blankies.
It sort of reminds me of the tube during the blitz.
This is a frequent game, though its usually on a smaller scale and in the hall. This time, Lucy added the touch of putting halloween socks on her hands.

My teeth kinda dirty
I got them Dora toothbrushes from Target yesterday. Now they are obsessed with dental hygiene. They are on their third toothbrushing session of the day. Every once in a while Lucy will just say, "my teeth kind of dirty" and they'll start a session.
Don't talk to Jesus!
Last night,I departed for bible study shortly after bedtime. They took a short nap yesterday which means, instead of conking out at 7, they linger and poke their heads out until 8. Lucy first said, "Mommy, don't go see Jesus!" And I thought, I'm not quite ready to SEE Him yet but said we were going to talk about him, to which he said, "No Mommy! Don't go talk to Jesus!"
Lucy also recently dressed up in high heels, bracelets and a purse and said "Bye! I'm goint o sewing class!"
I'm ready to have a break from night classes for a while. Its kind of exhausting and makes it more difficult to get all the normal stuff done (laundry, cleaning, list making) around here.

Someday...

I will be able to read this book without weeping.
The girls are always asking, "you ok mommy?" and I have to explain that I just love them so much.
Here is the content...
One day I counted your fingers, and kissed each one. (picture of mom w/ baby in hospital)
One day the first snowflakes fell, and I held you up and watched them melt on your baby skin.
One day we crossed the street, and you held my hand tight.
Then, you were my baby, and now you are my child.
Sometimes when you sleep, I watch you dream, and I dream too...
that someday you will dive into the cool, clear water of a lake.
Someday you will walk into a deep wood.
Someday your eyes will be filled with a joy so deep that they shine.
Someday you will run so fast and so far your heart will feel like fire.
Someday you will swing high - so high, higher than you ever dared to swing.
Someday you will hear something so sad that you will fold up with sorrow.
Someday you will call a song to the wind, and the wind will carry your song away.
Someday I will stand on this porch and watch your arms waving to me until I no longer see you.
Someday you will look at this house and wonder how something that feels so big can look so small.
Someday you will feel a small weight against your strong back. (picture of mom giving a piggy back ride)
Someday I will watch you brushing your child's hair.
Someday, a long time from now, your own hair will glow silver in the sun.
And when that day comes, love, you will remember me. (picture of a desk with the photo framed of the first picture of the mom holding the baby)

Brand new sewing machine. 1 sewing class behind me. Obsessing over patterns.
Love these old-fashioned designes by Oliver + S.
These are both 1 scissors aka "easy".

Thank you Easter Bunny (BB)
Reaction to Easter baskets from Grandparents... They didn't want to read the card - just get to the goodies inside.
this one is long...

Am 2, will tantrum
Some days I am tempted to never turn off the tv, you understand. That is why they invented 24 hour Noggin - its preschool on tv.

I'll be your server today...
The summer after my senior year in high school, I got a job as a waitress at a deli. It was a circus theme deli - Ringling Brothers. It wasn't really circusy. I think it was just near the Ringling Brothers corporate headquaters. I was supposed to serve reuben sandwiches and soups while wearing what I thought were way too short shorts. My first day I sploshed matzo ball soup on a patron (dude, the bowls were really heavy and shallow, major design flaw) hit my head on the metal shield over the food, cried and was sent home. After one day. My well-toned legs didn't save me. I was fired. And vowed never to be a waitress again. I figured I was not cut out for serving.
Recently, however, messages of serving that have poppped up in my bible study have resonated with me. This is what I'm doing. "I want a snack". Yes ma'am, I'll be your server today, do you want an apple and peanut butter or a quesadilla. "I have a poop." Yes, right away, let me take that from you ma'am.
Mommas are servers. Nature requires putting them first. Forsaking our own needs - sleep, adult conversation, clean pants - to make sure they are o.k. Despite my shaky start into the service industry, its an honor to be their server today. I still cry sometimes, but noone can fire me.
