Working Mom

I just picked up some contract work. I'm going to be doing some project management/analysis for a company in town that does tele and videoconferencing. I have known the person I am working for a long time, and he's great to work with. I will be doing 12-15 hours a week, about half in the office which is downtown in the Frost building (4th and Congress). Happy hour anyone?

Its really a great situation and I feel pretty blessed. But I'm also nervous. I know I will feel that I'm not doing "enough" for either of my jobs. I am already feeling guilty about taking time away from the girls. And Jessica is not going to be able to stay with them. She's highly in demand and the job came at the bad time for booking her. I found someone else, who was highly recommended by a friend and seems great. But I know I need a few more backups.

Really, the time away is what I would want to keep me sane. But then, when do I work out, run errands and grocery shop? I'm sure all these things will work themselves out. I am just going to need to be organized. After all, there are grocery stores between downtown and home.

Now I have an alternative answer to the "what do you do?" question. Though my primary role is still "mom". And will be for a while (thank God).

Upon our return

The very first thing that the girls got into was their dress up clothes.

The Perfect Man

The girls think their daddy is pretty great. When we were visiting Grammy, she had to go to the bank to get money and took Harper (Lucy was busy vomiting).

This was my version of the conversation:

Harper: My Daddy has money.
Grammy: Oh, your Daddy is rich?
Harper: No, he's nice.

And while we were there if anything broke, they were quick to note that Daddy had tools and could fix it. Even the wind up monkey.

And then there is the "My Daddy has a penis," to which Grammy responded, "good for him."

All and all, the perfect guy.

Happy Father's Day!

Harper and Lucy are the luckiest girls in the world because they have the best Daddy.

Some Daddy pics from our latest adventures. More to come on our vacation following bedtime. Hopefully by then we will also have food and wine and in the house. Less of a chance everything will be put away.

We Miss You Ladies

Note - Murdoch, Angus, Dolores & Smoke contributed to this post.

Ladies, we miss you. Miss your stories, miss your giggles, miss your exuberant laughs, miss your requests to be held, miss your cooking, miss your entertainment, miss your creativity, miss your snuggles, and miss your help in the kitchen and around the house. Don't miss the screams and fights and tantrums and ideas on how we can better ourselves so much - but at least that means you are around, so maybe a little. The house is awfully lonely with just the 4 of us padding around in there (and one outside of course), scraping by with what we can each find individually to eat. We look forward to your return. In the meantime, anything you know of that needs fixin'?

Saloon girl

This is how Harper has chosen to use her piano lately.

Attitude

The other day Jessica kept the girls busy by having them scrub the playtable and their car with soap and brushes.
