Camp

The girls just finished their first week of camp on Friday. It is at their preschool and taught by their teacher, Ms. Nooshi.

It ran Tuesday through Friday from 8:30 - 12:30 which gave me the chance to do some work, grocery shop, and work out.

And it tired. them. out. In fact, naps have again made an appearance in our lives. They come home snack, watch a little tv and will conk out for 1-2 hours. Then we get up and do an afternoon activity. We have gotten to do some early evening fun stuff like go out to dinner, swim and get frozen yogurt at my new favorite haunt - yogurt planet. You get to serve your own yogurt and load your toppings - and pay by the ounce. The girls love the mini m&ms and tiny gummi bears.

This was what I wanted our summer schedule to be. Get up early and do stuff. Nap from 2-4 and then do some more stuff and stay up later. Its kind of working now, and hoping I can keep them on it because everything is better when they take a nap.

The first week theme was "Under the Sea" and they came home on Friday with their projects.


They said they had "running hats" like mommy, and could go running with me now.



But my favorite project was this framed picture with their gigantic sunglasses on. hilarious.

Camp

In a little pre-preschool preparation, Harper and Lucy are doing a summer "school" with the Freas Triplets. Jessica, our rockstar nanny, was a preschool teacher and has put together a curriculum.

First we did families and babies, then bugs (and reptiles) and yesterday they did "the beach". Camp has a lot more structure and planning than I provide on a usual basis. My lack of planning has left me feeling a bit guilty. Our days should be more structured. We do art, but its impromptu. I'm not pulling out the pipecleaners and matching our creations to what we read in books from the library. I am adlibbing.

Think I'm going to spend a little time this weekend trying to plan activities and games for the week. Just to make the days a little more fun for all of us. If anyone (homeschooling mammas) has good resources for finding toddler activities, bring 'em on.
