In a little pre-preschool preparation, Harper and Lucy are doing a summer "school" with the Freas Triplets. Jessica, our rockstar nanny, was a preschool teacher and has put together a curriculum.
First we did families and babies, then bugs (and reptiles) and yesterday they did "the beach". Camp has a lot more structure and planning than I provide on a usual basis. My lack of planning has left me feeling a bit guilty. Our days should be more structured. We do art, but its impromptu. I'm not pulling out the pipecleaners and matching our creations to what we read in books from the library. I am adlibbing.
Think I'm going to spend a little time this weekend trying to plan activities and games for the week. Just to make the days a little more fun for all of us. If anyone (homeschooling mammas) has good resources for finding toddler activities, bring 'em on.

They're 21 months old. They don't need structure. Free-range children.
i need some new good ideas too, when we don't have any activites they start to get bored and more wining, stealing toys ensue followed by inevidable accidents.
we just got back from an impromtu trip to the Texas museam. it was moderately fun for them, the highlight was probably running in the lobby. but it was nice and cool in there and everyone went down for an early nap.

oh, and i've heard good things about learning box. it is designed for kids 3 to 5.
each week has a theme and you get all the craft supplies and activity ideas to support.
a nice thing about having a weekly theme is that it helps with ideas on new things to do. like the week they study sea creatures go to the aquarium, or pets week go to a pet store.

it gets significantly less expensive the more kids you buy for so we could order together. this is on my radar for next year.
