PJ day
Apparently its a big deal to get to wear your pjs to school. PJ day was the easiest we've had getting out the door and all it cost me was a pack of frozen waffles.
I let the girls pick out new pjs at target since the ones we had were getting a little natty.
Harper is sporting Cars with babylegs (it was a little nippy)and Lucy is wearing Hello Kitty.

Bluebonnet Fail
If you live in Central Texas, you are supposed to have bluebonnet pictures. These are pictures of your children, taken every Spring. They should be wearing white dresses and big white bows and should be laughing in a gigantic field of Texas blubonnets - or those lovely red and yellow wildflowers - but mostly bluebonnets.
So a few weeks ago we took a trek out to a flower farm in the hill country. Surely, the bluebonnets would be abundant. All along the highway there were loads of flowers on the side of the roads and people stopped to take pictures. Which seems... risky.
When we get there I was feeling odd. Dizzy and generally out of sorts. A little nauseated. The place was packed. And the flowing fields of bluebonnets were a few clumps under a tree. We snapped our pictures and started making the 1.5 hour drive home. I got increasingly concerned I was dying (drama). Ends up I had some bad vertigo and spent the rest of the time feeling like I was on a carousel, laying in bed, and vomiting.
Here are the pics from our adventure.

I am beside myself with jealousy and am on the hunt for a generous clump of bluebonnets even if I have to stop on the side of Mopac.

Swim Lesson Update
Sometimes you have to do things you don't want to do. Sometimes you have to live out your threats. A few weeks ago, I told Lucy she wouldn't get to stay with me at swim lessons in the waiting area. If she wasn't going in, she was going home with the babysitter.
So, she wouldn't go in. And she went home. In her bathing suit and tearful. She fell asleep crying in the doorway of her bedroom.
But guess what. Next time, she went in. I had to hand her to the teacher, and I still do, but at least there is progress. I am not sure how I get past this physical hand off stage. I have to do it every time I leave her. Even with Daddy. Even with the teacher she has had for two years.
At least I can leave.

"Swim" Lessons
We had lesson 5 for our spring swim lessons. I signed the girls up in hopes that they wouldn't drown at camps or the pool the summer.
Babysitters took them the first week. Lesson 1, Lucy took a while but finally got in. Lesson 2, she sat at the side for a while, but finally went in. Lesson 3 was the first time Mommy went and she excitedly went in and did great. Lesson 4, wouldn't go in. Last 5 minutes of the class she wanted to go in, but I denied her. Drama, crying, wailing that culminated in a tantrum by the time we reached home.
Today, Lesson 5 on the way she indicated she could possibly be getting it. This was a shot from our lesson.

I have tried the threat - "you will have to get a babysitter this summer when Mommy and Harper go to the pool", and the bribe "I'll buy you a slushie if you get in". Today I wanted to throw her in the pool, but there were two police officers there checking out scuba gear, so I decided against it.
If I can get the sitter on Wed, I think it would be effective for her to show up and me leave with Harper. But it. will. be. traumatic.
