The White Gene?
At first I thought it was Harper who had acquired the White hoarding gene as she used to walk around with her arms full of item she "collected" through out the house, but then that passed as she tended to inspect something, then throw it down or place it in some collection point, like the tub. But lately, I am starting to see the it show up even stronger in Lucy. She gets as many items as she can, her favorites: Baby, Coco, Elmo, milk, hop-hop (bunnies), etc. and places them in her stroller to push around the house, much like a little, 18-month old bag lady. If anyone approaches her prized possessions, they are greated by her warning "EHHHH" sound, causing the warned party to abruptly disengage. Here she is on Saturday. Contents included: milk in purple sippy cup, 2 long-legged girl bunnies from Easter, 2 Coco's, Elmo and baby - all in one stroller. And another picture of her taking inventory and repositioning her items a short time later. At least I will have an ally when Jenny wants to purge some items.

Mommy calling cards

pretentious or practical? There have been many times that I've met another mom at Gymboree or the park and wanted to exchange informaion. I usually write on a receipt with lipgloss. And then it gets lost.
This product was pimped to me through a MomFinds email I get. I think it would be useful, but I would feel like That Mom. And getting a business card with the title of Mom to Lucy and Harper feels so final. But it is. I'm planning to be their Mom for the rest of my career, and I haven't held the esteemed position of Marketing Manager for a year and a half now.
So, what do you think?

Skinny Babies
So, I have been minorly fretting over my underweight offspring. I know its not that big of a deal, but before babies can DO anything, people gauge how well you are taking care of them by how chunky they are. And the bigger, the better. "How much do they weigh?" Is a pretty common question, almost as common as "How much did they weigh when they were born?". Which is usually followed with, "My one weighed more than both of yours combined."
A playgroup mate who is only 9 months old (half the age of harper and lucy) weighs 23 lbs. When I was at the doctor she asked me how much I weighed when I was 18 months. You know, I don't remember, but I DO have a baby book. I just checked it.
So, at 17 months:
Jenny
Ht: 33 1/2"
Wt: 19lbs 9.5oz
at 18 months:
Lucy:
Ht: 29 3/4" (8%)
Wt: 18lbs 13oz (<3%)
Harper:
Ht: 30 1/2" (18%)
Wt: 19lbs 12 oz (<3%)
So, really, truth be told. L&H are a little chunky if anything. I was taller and weighed less than Harper. So, I'm not the bad Mom. My Mom is.

We hate the Easter Bunny
almost as much as Santa.
I put them in their cutest NEW dresses (first worn by anyone, unusual for us) and headed out to The Mall today. We went to storytime and then headed to the bunny. They seemed o.k. at firs. Their friends Gus and Truman went to the bunny and Truman started crying. Large man in white bunny suit. Yes, its scary.
Lucy said, "Momma?" and pumped her arm out to the side and said "Go." I tried to tell them it was a bunny and took them out. Screaming ensued. Lucy got to the lap screaming, but Harper stiffened up. Alas, I didn't get a shot with them. Saved $27 though.
Afterwards we went to Nordstrom's cafe. I was enjoying my bistro club with kalamata aioli when I smelled something rank. Coming from my child. I picked her up and she had diarrhea all on the back of her precious dress. And I didn't have a backup outfit. Note to self. ALWAYS have a backup outfit. Hasty exit. Lucy also spilled her entire milk in her lap/carseat. My car is going to smell good this afternoon.

Peanuts
The girls had their 18 month appointment today. Here's are the stats:
Lucy:
Ht: 29 3/4" (8%)
Wt: 18lbs 13oz (<3%)
Harper:
Ht: 30 1/2" (18%)
Wt: 19lbs 12 oz (<3%)
The doctor said they were on a good trajectory, but was a little worried about Lucy's weight, its grown at a slower rate. We're going back in three months to check up again. I have to figure out how to fatten her up before then. The girl eats. I guess I just need to add butter and cream to everything.
